A new version of Vividl has been released today and includes various bug fixes, improvements and translation updates. The new update is now available for download via SourceForge and Chocolatey (see links below).

Version 0.8.0 marks the first update of Vividl in 2024 and releases a large set of new features, improvements and bug fixes developed in the last few months, many based on user requests. The new update is now available for download via SourceForge and Chocolatey (see links below).
The main novelties introduced in v.0.8.0 are highlighted below:
Preferred video resolution: You can now specify a preferred video resolution for download in the settings under General -> Download List -> Preferred Video Resolution. Vividl will automatically try to select download formats matching the preferred resolution for direct video downloads and video conversion downloads (falling back to lower resolutions otherwise). On a per-download basis, this feature can also be configured in the "Add New Videos" window. Further, the download format lists in the "Configure Download" window are now automatically sorted by this resolution preference. (Note that this feature only works with yt-dlp and not with youtube-dl as download engine.)... read more

The first update of Vividl in 2022 brings some bigger changes under the hood. Up until now, Vividl has used youtube-dl as its default video download engine. However, as development on this widely popular project has slowed down recently, Vividl switches to yt-dlp in v.0.6.0, a more up-to-date version of the original project. This change will not only bring better support for many websites, but also faster download speeds. The Windows installer and portable releases of the new version ship with the new engine by default. A new version of Vividl has been released today and is now available for download via SourceForge and Chocolatey. Besides UI improvements, the new version 0.5.0 mainly brings more flexibility in configuring video downloads.
The main addition in v.0.5.0 is the new "Configure Download" window which allows a detailed configuration of the downloaded video formats and format conversions. The new window can be opened by clicking the "Configure Download" button on a video list item or by selecting "Custom Download" in the format drop-down. It shows all available video, audio and audio+video tracks available for download for a certain video. The Vividl project participated in this year's Hacktoberfest, a month-long event on GitHub every October to encourage and promote contributions to open-source software development. A new minor update of Vividl has been released today. The new version brings translations of the UI into other languages and bug fixes.

Thanks to user feedback, this new update fixes some bugs of the initial version of Vividl that could cause app crashes. Also, the used version of youtube-dl was updated to 2020.01.24 which fixes a few video extraction errors.

Vividl is a Windows app that lets you download videos from various websites, including YouTube.
