Thank you so much for this! Really glad you reported back, very helpful and I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out why it wasn't working

I did some additional examination of the tracks with the problem: the drop-off of the volume happens at 1 minute in on each and every one of the tracks. Any idea what MP3 Gain did and how do I prevent it from happening again? I haven't been able to figure out a batch process to increase the volume enmass, so I am in the process of doing each (of the 1800+) tracks individually. Thanks again in advance for any help you can provide.
Thanks for the reply. I didn't use a mic, just straight music tracks from various sources that I wanted to clean-up. Any ideas of how to get the tracks to stay at a constant volume throughout each one. The drop-off in the middle of a song is really annoying. Thanks again.
Many of us have felt that way but the rest think it sounds excellent! It almost sounds like you have recorded from a microphone. Well, not that bad. Will be great for me!
Yes, the 1.5.2 back end will work with the v1.2.5 or v1.3.4 versions of the GUI. The menu "Options -> Tags -> Ignore (do not read or write tags)" will prevent all header changes. The message by 2Bdecided (third-from-last message) in that "mp3gain is NOT lossless" gives a technical breakdown, but the short version is: Most of the time it's completely lossless, i.e. the hash should be the same if you make a gain change of +N and then make a gain change of -N. In some weird cases where it's not technically...
Current version for Windows?, MP3GAIN_UNDO entry in the header, really lossless?

Sorry, it's more like "in 13 years I've had time to forget most of the code" :) I have no plans for any further changes, especially not changes that would require fundamental structural changes like multithreading.
Same question was asked in 2011... Guess the answer was no then since it hasn't happened yet but surely in 13 years you've had time to rethink that....
New CPU technology
Just to answer my own question...I managed to compile after using vcpkg to install mpg123 and integrated with Visual Studio. The resulted build also contains mpg123.dll that's needed to run. See my fork. Combined with my fork of QMP3Gain, we can finally work with Unicode filenames on Windows.
Please build this and release to the world! It's about time to support unicode filenames. I downloaded master and had a hard time compiling using VS2022 without errors. After copying the "mpglibDBL" folder from earlier version, I still get 47 errors. Obviously there is a dependency somewhere.

Wow, a merge request after all these years. Good to know some people still find this program useful :)

MP3 gain duscussion
Hi Chris: Thank you for getting back to me with the possible solutions to my problem. Can you tell me how to process the files in smaller batches? Also, can you provide me with the link to the latest version of the software from a reputavble source? Regards, Geoff From: discussion@mp3gain.p.re.sourceforge.net discussion@mp3gain.p.re.sourceforge.net on behalf of Micheal Chris michealchris@users.sourceforge.net Sent: April 5, 2023 5:15 AM To: [mp3gain:discussion] 164668@discussion.mp3gain.p.re.sourceforge.net...
Hey, The "11 errors during processing" message in MP3 Gain could indicate that there are issues with some of the newly added songs that are preventing MP3 Gain from processing them correctly. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot this issue: Check the error log: Clicking "Yes" to view the error log will give you more information about which files are causing errors and what the errors are. This information can help you identify and troubleshoot the issue. Check the file format and quality:...
omg thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been trying to install MP3GAIN 1-2-5 full on my win10 pc and whilst it downloads ok (or seems too) the install wizard does it's thing and I get the message "MP3Gain is installed" although it isn't. The only way I can use it is by running the wizard over and loading it when that completes. Any help gratefully received! Jonathan, Devon UK.
